Benny The Butcher surprised fans in Baltimore this week when he brought out J. Cole as a guest on the first night of his Thank God I Made It Tour.

The Griselda rapper kicked off his world tour in on Thursday night (April 20) and Cole sent the crowd into a frenzy when he hit the venue’s stage. The duo performed their gritty 2022 anthem “Johnny P’s Caddy.”

Sharing a clip of the performance on Instagram, Benny captioned the post: “Started the THANK GOD I MADE IT TOUR off right way in Baltimore bringing my boy out @realcoleworld.”

Fans can be seen enthusiastically rapping along to J. Cole’s brash feature, where he crowns himself the “best rapper alive” over The Alchemist’s crisp production — which took home HipHopDX‘s Beat Beat of 2022 Award — and they even finish some of his lyrics for him.

“On the night I was born, the rain was pourin’, God was cryin’/ Lightnin’ struck, power outage, sparks was flyin’/ The real one’s here, the young boy that walk with lions/ Around the outlines of chalk where the corpses lyin’,” Cole raps.

Plenty of Benny’s rap friends lent their stamp of approval to Cole joining him on stage, including Busta Rhymes, G-Eazy, Blxst, Royce Da 5’9″, Bun B and more chiming in on the Instagram post.

“Johnny P’s Caddy” arrived in January 2022 and landed on The Butcher’s Tana Talk 4 album in March. The track pushed its way to the Billboard Hot 100, where it peaked at No. 72, and earned Benny his first-ever plaque when The Alchemist-produced single went gold on April 13.

Benny’s Thank God I Made It Tour continues this weekend with a pair of Virginia shows in Norfolk and Richmond before heading to the Northeast.

From there, he will make the trek overseas and hit up Ireland, Germany, Czech Republic, Greece, Israel, Poland and the Netherlands to close out the tour.

On the music side, the Buffalo native has been teasing another possible Hit-Boy-produced album titled Everything Can’t Go as the Burden of Proof collaborators were locked in the studio in March.

It comes after footage emerged of Benny and Hit-Boy in the studio in September 2022; so there appears to be plenty of bullets in the chamber if they choose to treat fans in 2023.
