Top Dawg Says New Kendrick Lamar Album Isn’t Coming Anytime Soon

TDE’s Isaiah Rashad took to Instagram Live a few days ago and revealed Kendrick Lamar had a brand new album “damn near” done. But according to TDE’s CEO Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, it isn’t coming anytime soon.

On Tuesday (September 4), Top Dawg released a message on Instagram letting all the excited fans know that the Kendrick album was not dropping in 2018.

“ATT: KDOT DON’T HAVE A NEW ALBUM COMING NO TIME SOON,” Top Dawg wrote. “So keep playing DAMN until the kid is inspired again.”

Though K. Dot’s album isn’t coming out in 2018, TDE’s head honcho tweeted on August 29 he has two more albums for fans this year.

According to TDE‘s Isaiah Rashad, Kendrick Lamar is damn close to finishing a new album.

During an Instagram Live session with TDE’s CEO Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, Rashad revealed that he heard a “damn near” completed album from Kendrick. Along with that, he mentioned ScHoolboy Q’s album and SZA’s new hair color change.

“Q finna drop. SZA’s hair is green, so you know it’s going to be fire. You never know what’s going to happen.” Then he goes on to say, “Top just played me a whole Dot album, damn near.”

Last Wednesday (August 29), Top Dawg tweeted that he had 2 more albums for fans this year but he was trying for 4.

The label boss also recently stated that Q’s album was “90% to 95% done”, all but indicating that the Blankface LP architect is dropping soon than later.

With so many active artists on the roster, their recent signee, Reason, could also be set to release music as well.

    1. I hope KDot drops this year. That would be dope. I mean, we already got push, ye, nas, jay, em, cole, bun and more this year. A lot of heavy hitters and legends. Im not saying all those projects have been perfect or flawless. I’m just saying a lot of big names dropped something and I appreciate that.

    2. I’m kinda tired of Kendrick…… No wait, let’s be honest…… I never liked the guy’s music. Lol “If I don’t like it I don’t like it, don’t mean that I’m hating.” – Common

    3. Kendrick is a problem. He’s already considered by many and by legends as one of the greatest to ever do it, but I think hes gonna become the best rapper and musician in music history

    4. I don’t like hip hop but I’m sure gonna buy this. Kendrick seems tobe the only rapper that knows how to make music

    5. Lol just a bunch of hype this generation is all built on fuuckery and bulllshiit. Back in the day they would just promote an album and then put it out on the release date. Tuesdays when everything would drop now its just a shhiit show more hype around when the album will release then the album itself people just hype up stuff ao much that nothing usually lives up to the expectations people just want that cash dough dinero no one cares about quality, substance and replay value its all a money grab the culture is now a mockery and it represents everything hip hop stood against it basically turned on itself and is now this redundant joke. No one takes rap serios anymore cause anything thats mainstream is never anything positive or inspiring. Thank god I still have all my real underground hip hop that shit you dont hear on top 40 radio real beats and real lyrics ya’ll can have your Lil this and Young that. Just remember when this culture dies out just like disco you did this!
      -Peace!

      1. There are plenty of mainstreamers that have positive work of substance. Maybe, you should look harder. Also in a social media age where any and all information is readily available along with any movie and music a person could want just at their fingertips artists have to be clever in their album rollouts with promo and massive amounts of hype to get people’s attention and some buzz for their projects. Some rappers have always used rap as a money grab they just have more lanes for it now. There are some just capitalizing off the art for a check, but there are others who aren’t.
