Is Cam the Next Malcolm or Martin?

Cam’ron was shot in a suspected car-jack-gone-bad during Howard’s home coming weekend. As new revelations about the case surface, more questions arise for Cam and the police in Washington D.C.

Cam has not been silent about the incident. The emcee has been appearing on radio and has even released a song about the carjacking.

In the song, Cam explains what went down and throws in a few comedic lines as well.

“I’m Hulk Hogan/Randy Savage, Bob Backlin/ah ah!/who they think they car jacking?/ You dumpin’? Then dump,” he claimed.

“They mad my car’s like an elephant, the trunk’s in the front/see you doobie at/had six threw me back/a few they clap/but I ate those/them sh*ts is Scooby snacks/I ain’t see stars/I’m a G paw/through the Lam in 6, drove to the ER/ Had to make it hot/ I feel like Pac,” Cam spits later in the song.

Later in the track, he likened the carjacking to a set up and claimed “them old niggas know I’m about to take they spot.”

So was it a carjack or a set-up? Investigators are on the verge of finding out.

According to the reports, Cam was with a passenger in his Lamborghini. They were being followed by his entourage, which rode in a pink Range Rover.

A D.C. Protective Services Officer was parked near the incident. After the shooting, the officer chased the assailants, who were in a burgundy Ford Expedition. The Expedition crashed into stationary vehicle and the two men escaped on foot.

Police have been able to locate the man who owns this Expedition. Unfortunately, this hasn’t led too much. The man claims he lent it to some associates and their identities are still unknown.

Police do have clues, though. A Nextel phone, some fingerprints and shell castings were all found in the burgundy vehicle. This may lead to some crucial answers in the case.

Although police still have reason to believe it could have been a robbery, other motives are being explored. An assassination attempt has not been ruled out.

While the Harlem emcee doesn’t fear death, he understands that it’s a possibility.

The night after the shooting, the rapper claimed the assailants walked up to him and asked him to “give up the car.” Now, some believe it could have been a hit. Cam is not sure what it was.

“I never put anything past anybody. I don’t know if it was a hit, I don’t know if it was a carjacking. Until everything comes to light, it’s too early to [make assumptions],” he said.

Could someone be after the emcee?

“Not saying somebody is after me, but you gotta realize you in a position of power. It’s like the modern day… its like Malcolm X and Martin Luther King. I hate to use them as examples, but they both got murdered and they both were great leaders. Right now [rappers are] in a position where people like [Minister Louis] Farrakhan and Dr. Ben [Chavis] call us up to speak to the youth,” he claimed.
