In a blog entry that was posted on GlobalGrind.com today (October 20), Hip Hop mogul and GlobalGrind.com Editor-In-Chief Russell Simmons[click to read] blogged about Jay-Z beating Elvis’ record and Jay-Z’s relevance years from now.

“What I definitely didn’t know, back then, is that Jay-Z would surpass Elvis Presley with the most number one albums as a solo artist of all time,” said Russell Simmons. “It just happened, so naturally…it was like breathing, watching Jay put up number one albums. Damn. 11 in a row.”

Last month Jay-Z broke Elvis’ record for the solo artist with the most number one albums when he released The Blueprint 3. The Blueprint 3 marked Jay-Z’s eleventh number one solo album.

“…in a hundred years from now, we’re gonna be talking about Jay-Z,”
Russell Simmons added. “When we think of hip-hop, we will think of Jay. But what is even more important than his album sales, is his affect on American popular culture.”

Simmons[click to read] went on to blog about Hip Hop’s impact in America, from the integration of MTV to the election of President Obama last year.
