Last night in Philadelphia, Heineken Beer held a concert event at Shampoo Night Club. This nationwide concert series is called Red Star Soul. The concert series features DJ Jazzy Jeff, who did the opening set plus continuous deejay sets all night. Jeff was joined by emcee Skillz.

Newcomer and DXnext alum Melanie Fiona [click to read] a SRC/Motown Records artist, also performed as well. Her debut album, The Bridge will be coming out later this year. The headliner of the night was rapper/actor/producer/entrepreneur Ludacris [click to read].

In an exclusive interview with HipHopDX, Ludacris talked about how he got involved with Heineken, “Heineken knows how much of a great artist I am so they contacted me to headline the tour and you know I support Heineken so we made it happen.

The tour has also been in Chicago and Washington D.C so far. Ludacris also talked about new music: “The Battle of the Sexes Album with Shawnna will be coming out first than my solo album, Ludaversal will be next. Look for Ludaversal in late 2010.

In other news Ludacris’ new movie, Gamer is in theaters now and DTP Records’ Playaz Circle new album comes out this Tuesday. Some other celebrities at the event included comedian Kevin Heart and Philadelphia music producer, Ruggedness.
