Alicia Keys recently spoke on the stage crashers from this past weekend’s MTV Video Music Award‘s, Lil Mama and Kanye West [click to read].

In an interview on the Today Show on Wednesday (Sept. 16), Keys briefly addressed Lil Mama, who got on stage near the end of the show’s finale – a perfomance of Jay-Z and Alicia Keys‘ song, “Empire State of Mind” [click to listen].

I can appreciate her overwhelmed and inspired, but we would have preferred her doing it from her seat,” said Keys, referring to Lil Mama‘s explanation that she was simpily consumed with pride for New York.
Alicia Keys also touched on the topic of Kanye West‘s outburst during Taylor Swift‘s acceptance speech for “Best Female Video.”

Obviously, he knows that that wasn’t probably in best taste – in retrospect – and I think that he realizes that wasn’t quite the right thing to do. So, I’m sure that he is apologetic and he already has apologized. It was a little strange.
