Last week at the BMI Urban Awards, T-Pain [click to read] and Lil Wayne shared top accolades for the best songwriter of the year award. The awards show was held at the Lincoln Center in New York City, and also honored Polow Da Don and Kanye West for producers of the year. T-Pain and Lil Wayne contributed to six songs on the “most played” list, including “Lollipop,” “A Milli,” “Low,” and “Can’t Believe It.” In addition to T-Pain’ssongwriting honor, he was also included on BMI‘s list of top producers of the year.

Alicia Keys, Chris Brown, Mariah Carey, George Clinton, and others were also recognized at the awards show.

In other news, Daft Punk will join Eminem and Jay-Z with special appearances on Activision‘s upcoming music video game, DJ Hero, according to Rolling Stone. The French duo, whose futuristic-electronica sound has been sampled by artists like J Dilla and Kanye West, will feature as playable characters, bringing along beats, trademark costumes, and set designs.

The group will also mix 11 songs with their own, including Boogie Down Productions‘ “Jack Of Spades,” and Young MC‘s “Bust A Move.”

DJ Hero is set to release on October 27.
