Jay-Z spoke at a press conference yesterday (Aug. 31) morning about his “Answer The Call” charity concert this coming Sept. 11.
The show, which takes place eight years after both the tragic events of 9/11 and Jay-Z‘s classic album Blueprint, will be going down at Madison Square Garden.
Proceeds from the show, which Jay-Z says was inspired by the heroic actions of the men and women of New York following the tragedy, will go to the New York Poilce and Fire Widows’s and Children’s Benefit Fund.
Hov recalled his impressions of the tragedy, which he viewed from a television in Los Angeles, where he was on location filiming his “Girls, Girls, Girls” music video.
“It looked like a movie to me,” said Jay-Z of the images millions saw that day. “It didn’t look like anything that could be real. So the last thing I was thinking about was an album. The first thing I was thinking about was what happens from here?
“I turned on the TV September 12, and I saw footage of these heroic actions, people running into buildings and saving each other and I just saw the strength of New York,” elaborated Jay-Z. “It made me proud. So as I was embarking on putting out this Blueprint 3, it was only right to revisit the day and this is my chance to do something to help out.”
Jay also intimated that he would preform “anywehre between four to more” tracks from his highly-anticipated album, Blueprint 3, and that, regarding guest appearances, “it could be one, it could be 10.”
The concert will air on Fuse TV at 9:00 PM EST. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Sept. 8 at noon for $50 each at ticketmaster.com.
