The free singles label, Green Label Sound, has released its first free single of 2009, “Land of the Kings” by DXnext alumni U-N-I [click to read]. Each month the label will release free singles, providing independent artists with an opportunity to reach a wider audience.
In December of 2008, Chicago duo, The Cool Kids, and Rock duo, Matt And Kim, went on a three date tour arranged by Green Label Sound. In future months, GLS is set to release singles from Holy Ghost, Solid Gold, and Amazing Baby.
In past releases the label has leaned toward a Hip Hop and Electronic Pop sound, with Matt And Kim as their main band. The Mountain Dew-supported label gives artists a chance to make it to the next level without jeopardizing their originality. In other news, 88-Keys [click to read] will be performing at the Ambient + Studio in Atlanta on June 5th along with Devin the Dude [click to read]. The event will be hosted by Bobby Ray, formally known as B.o.B., and presented by Shameless Plug.
Producer/rapper, 88-Keys, has produced for artists such as Black Star, Macy Gray, Mos Def and Talib Kweli. His debut concept album, The Death of Adam, dropped in October of 2008 and was executive produced by Kanye West.
