Afeni Shakur and entertainer extraordinaire Mike Epps [click to read] are planning to give late rapper Tupac Shakur a posthumous birthday to remember.
On June 16, celebrities, friends, and fans alike will pay homage to ‘Pac in a benefit concert for The Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts in Atlanta. Including A-list guests such as Ludacris [click to read], Big Boi [click to read], and Young Jeezy [click to read], and co-hosted by M1 of dead prez, the event will center on the celebration of ‘Pac and his positive influence within the Hip Hop community.
Going from stand-up comedian to a bona fide movie star in his own right, Mike Epps explained how ‘Pac impacted his life. “[Pac’s music’s] always been the soundtrack for overcoming struggle and when my life was in a desolate place it was his messages that helped bring me through,” he said in a recent press statement.
Adding Epps, “I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for his inspiration. It’s an honor for me to stand alongside his mother, Afeni Shakur in celebrating such a personal moment in her son’s history.”

Tickets for the benefit concert are $25, and are available at ticketmaster.com and tasf.org.
In other news, rap duo Method Man [click to read] and Redman are doing a contest in the form of a remix for their track “Dangerous MC’s,” [click to listen] off of Blackout! 2 [click to read]. The contest, in collaboration with IllRoots.com and MySpace.com, gives fans the opportunity to put their own production skills to the test with a chance to have it featured on their MySpace page, plus win a few other goodies. Producers have until next Tuesday (May 26) to submit their remix.
