Hip Hop super group Random Axe has recently signed to independent label Duck Down Records.
Consisting of Guilty Simpson [click to read], Black Milk [click to read], and Sean Price [click to read], respectively, the trio has been featured on various tracks together throughout the last few years, with one of their more prominent records being “Run” off of Simpsons’ Ode to the Ghetto [click to read] album.
Price, who is already signed to Duck Down and acts as a member of Heltah Skeltah [click to read] and Boot Camp Clik, is seen in a new video clip stating, “The contract is done…It’s official, we’ve all signed.” Random Axe is expected to drop their album later this year.
In other news, R&B quartet Jagged Edge will continue their fairly successful career with a new label in Slip-N-Slide Records. Previously signed to Island Def Jam, Jagged Edge will now make their mark with the Miami-based label that already boasts acts such as Plies [click to read] and Trina [click to read].

Label founder Ted Lucas explained the significance of signing an already-established R&B group. “[Jagged Edge] are one of the preeminent R&B groups of our time. They are going to pick up right where they left off and bring their fans some great new hit songs,” he said in a press statement. Adding Lucas, “I’m excited to welcome Jagged Edge to the Slip-N-Slide Records family.”
Jagged Edge’s debut album on Slip-N-Slide is tentatively scheduled for a 2010 release.
