The initial list of presenters for MTV’s 2009 Movie Awards was recently announced, with some pretty notable names. Among them are New Orleans rapper and Cash Money’s own Lil Wayne [click to read], funnymen Will Ferrell and Jonah Hill, and Academy Award-winner Denzel Washington. Along with these presenters, Eminem will also be performing onstage. The MTV Movie Awards are set for Sunday, May 31.
In other news, EPMD member Erick Sermon [click to read] has stated he was suppose to provide a beat on Nas’ classic 1994 Illmatic album, but it ended up not making the cut.
Reminiscing about the moment with Forbez DVD, Sermon explained, “I worked with Nas in 1991 when he was working on his classic Illmatic. My song didn’t make it. But I have a song that could have been on the ‘Lost Songs of Illmatic.’” Setting up history, Sermon added, “When he left my house, he went to Pete Rock’s house.” Rock produced the single “The World Is Yours.” Sermon‘s track has yet to surface, including on 2004’s 10th Anniversary re-release of the then-platinum album.
Finally, G-Unit member Lloyd Banks [click to read] has announced he will be doing his next solo album without Interscope Records.
Banks, who hasn’t put out a solo album since 2006’s Rotten Apple, told MTV why he decided to make the move. “Interscope had the option [for me] to do another album, but my intentions were – I wasn’t too excited for the machine anymore. I actually haven’t been signed to Interscope Records since 2007, so right after that I was ready to make a move anyway. There’s a lot of stuff on the table right now of course, but I won’t speak about it until I get to iron it out all the way.“

Continuing, Banks stated the move will give him a fresh new start at a time where Interscope is facing some difficult situations. “I’m a brand-new engine. If anything, it’s their loss. It’s been a dark shadow cast upon that. That’s why you hear [Funkmaster] Flex on the radio [boycotting Interscope], because it’s an aura created around that machine, and the artists automatically get smacked in the head.”
Choosing his own fortunes, Banks stated, “I felt it was time for me to go somewhere where it’s not biased and I get a fair shot.”
Lloyd Banks has stated producers Swizz Beatz, Polow Da Don, and Just Blaze are already tapped for his third album.
