Naledge of Kidz in the Hall [click to read] has chosen June 30th as the date to drop his anticipated mixtape Chicago Picasso, which features all new and unreleased material from the Chicago emcee. The first single off the mixtape, “Star Struck” [click to listen], has already surfaced online, which features Rus Soul and Sa-Ra behind the boards.

As he told DX last fall [click to read], the project includes guest appearances from Rhymefest, GLC, Mickey Factz, and Fooch, an affiliate of Naledge’sBrainiac Society. Their lyrics will be supplemented by beats from producers Double-O, Black Spade, and Tha Bizness [click to read].

Naledge, who alongside producer Double-O are currently at work on their third studio album tentatively titled Land of Make Believe, explained the reasoning behind dropping a solo project. “I have worked with some of the most creative people in my city, many of which I have known since childhood and that made this project all that more personal. That includes visual artists, poets, singers and emcees,” he said in a press statement.

Continuing, he was adamant about defining the purpose of Chicago Picasso. “I wouldn’t call this a mixtape so much as an exhibit…hence the name Chicago Picasso. The same way Pablo Picasso created a commissioned statue that has sat downtown in Chicago for years of interpretation; I want this mixtape to float the same way.”
