Expecting a delay in the project, Mike explained, “Please be patient with me,” adding, “I wanna still be a part of the independent community because I feel like it’s valuable. I feel like it’s needed. And I feel like all too often artists who make it [to a major] abandon it, and I have no intentions of doing that.”
It looks like the Grind Time Official founder is following through on his promise, as Underground Atlanta will see a June ’09 release. With close to 20 different featured artists from Atlanta, including T.I., Pastor Troy, Stat Quo, OJ Da Juice Man, Gucci Mane and Dem Gateway Boyz, Mike has his sights set on continuing the strong Southern movement into the new year.
“This is an Atlanta record! There is not just one type of Atlanta artist featured. This record is the ATL experience; welcome to Atlanta baby for real,”Mike said in a recent press statement.
