With recent news that former Def Jam music guru Rick Rubin will be working with The Clipse [click to read] to produce music on their upcoming third album Till The Casket Drops [click to read], anticipation for the release has heightened.

Recently, Entertainment Weekly‘s “PopWatch” gave a review of the album’s first teaser single, “Kinda Like a Big Deal,” calling it, “[The group’s] first bona fide party track in years.” In the first verse, Pusha T rhymes, “Third time’s the charm/after two classics, another stripe upon my arm.” With two critically and commercially successful albums under their belts, Malice and Pusha T are showing that it’s their rhymes more than charm that has gained them respect. The review reveals that the single is a much more upbeat track, compared to the dark tone of their gloomy yet critically acclaimed album Hell Hath No Fury [click to read]. Produced by DJ Khalil, the record also features Kanye West sans Auto-tune, in a verse that may bring about a sense of nostalgia for fans who enjoy ‘Ye’s rapping skills more than they do his singing. “[I’m] the black, Marshall, mixed with Jay,”Kanye raps with his trademark confidence.

The song will be available to the public on March 9, and the album is tentatively scheduled for a late-summer release.
