In a recent interview with the Washington Times, Michael Steele, the
Chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC) explained his
eagerness to use his public relations campaign to target untapped
communities such as the Hip Hop community.
“We need messengers to really capture that region – young,
Hispanic, black, a cross section…We want to convey that the modern-day
G.O.P. looks like the conservative party that stands on principles,”
Michael Steele told the Washington Times. “But we want to apply them to
urban-suburban Hip Hop settings.“
Steele‘s dedication to bringing the RNC to urban communities stems
from his earlier promise to bring his “party to every corner, to every
boardroom, to every neighborhood, to every community.”
According to Steele, his public relations team will use the Internet and advertising to target young black and Hispanic voters.

In the interview, Steele goes on to explain that his plan would be
“off the hook” and that not even “one-armed midgets” would be left out.
The
specifics of Steele‘s campaign have yet to be released, but Steele told
the Washington Times that it “will be avant garde, technically. It will
come to table with things that will surprise everyone…”
Steele, who is the first African American Chairman of the RNC, was
elected as chairman in January after beating out fellow Republican
Katon Dawson by a little over 10 votes.
