Five men ended up in the hospital this weekend after two events related to the opening of the movie Notorious, which tells the story of the Notorious B.I.G.
North Carolina newspaper News & Record reported that a man was shot in the stomach during the premiere of the movie on Friday (Jan. 16) night, which resulted in a mass evacuation of the theater.
Clive O’Connor, 32, was the victim of the gunshot, and is currently resting after undergoing surgery. No arrests have been made.
Reports indicate that Jamal “Gravy” Woolward, the rapper/actor who played Biggie in the movie, was actually in the theater at the time of the shooting. He remained unharmed.

“We can’t say whether or not this shooting is in direct relationship to the movie,” stated police Lt. James Hinson. “We just can’t say.”
According to the Associated Press, the violence did not stop there, as four men were stabbed during an after-party for the movie in Brooklyn, NY.
The stabbings occurred at The Djumbala club in Canarsie. The four men were taken to the Brookdale Hospital. One of the men, 21, is in critical condition.
A spokesman for the movie production company Fox Searchlight Pictures released a statement saying, “It’s an unfortunate and isolated incident, but there is no connection to the filmmakers or the studio.“
