Today, the Aphilliates leader and Martin, who produced two tracks on Ego Trippin’ [click to read], spoke to HipHopDX about the significance of the street release.
“Locke
High is a inner-city school in Watts, California that I am an alumni of
these type of schools usually gets a negative picture painted and I wanted to show that positivity and success can come from those type of areas. Locke High represents all inner-city communities in America. There is a “Locke High” in every poverty stricken area in America and these neighborhoods manifest some of our country’s most talented people,” said Martin.
DJ Drama added, “I’ve
been working with Terrace for a while and we had been throwing around
ideas while doing some work together. I really dug his music and what
he brings to the table from a production standpoint. He brought me
some awesome material for this street album. His music is like a
breathe of fresh air. Locke High marks my west coast trilogy – working
with veterans in the business to being able to introduce something new
from the west coast.“
DJ Drama‘s Aphilliates just released a debut album from Willie Da Kid, while Terrace Martin recently made “Bounce, Rock, Skate,” [click to listen], featuring Snoop Dogg, Kurupt and DJ Quik.
