Noted author, political activist and The Real World alum Kevin Powell didn’t get the boost he hoped for when Dave Chappelle missed his Wednesday appearance at a Powell fund-raiser. Chappelle was scheduled to appear [click to read] before an audience of 500 in efforts to help Powell unseat challenging incumbent Edolphus Towns for a congress seat representing Brooklyn’s 10th District.
After waiting three hours, Powell apologized to the crowd and invited him to his next fund-raiser. Chapelle has been keeping a relatively low profile since walking away from his highly successful sketch-comedy show, Chappelle’s Show, in 2005.
