Morobeats artists have never shied away from exploring sensitive, often difficult, issues that affect Philippine society. The twin brothers Kambal ng Morobeats once again deeps dive into harsh realities of the everyday Filipino in their latest single, “SUGAL” (Gamble), produced by label honcho and resident producer, DJ Medmessiah.

In the accompanying video for “SUGAL,” the brothers take turns being the cautionary voices, warning a man seemingly using drugs and getting drunk regarding the dangers, sometimes fatal consequences of substance abuse. They rap, “Magbabago ka bukas / Bakit hindi na lang ngayon?” (You’ll change tomorrow / Why not today instead?)

The Philippines continues to reel from former president Rodrigo Duterte’s deadly “war on drugs,” which claimed at least 6,248 reported deaths as of April 30 this year, according to CNN Philippines.
