Latto Says Rapping About Sex Makes Her Feel ‘Powerful & Liberated’

Latto has admitted that although she raps about a variety of topics, her favourite is sex because it makes her feel “powerful and liberated.”

Hot on the heels of her recent sophomore effort 777, the Atlanta-bred rapper dropped off a new single called “Pussy” on July 15. While the track thematically ties in with the Supreme Court’s recent overturning of Roe Vs. Wade, the sexual connotation of the record is linked to Latto’s love of explicit rhymes.

“Truth is I love rapping about sex it makes me feel so powerful and liberated and SEXY,” the “Wheelie” rapper tweeted on Friday (July 22). “But when I do yall say that’s all I rap about lol even tho I have a million other songs where I don’t.”

Latto added a sexually-charged verse to Nardo Wick’s recent “Baby Wyd (Remix)” from the 2022 HipHopDX Rising Star’s Who Is Nardo Wick? 2 project.

Daddy, what you doin’? Come here, I been missin’ you/ I wanna fuckin’ lick on you/ Swallow it, and sip on you/ I was thinkin’ balcony, you know I love that penthouse view/ Sloppy-toppy in the coupe,” she raps on the track.

Despite Latto’s new single “Pussy” also being political at heart, fans took issue with the stance the rapper took and accused her of profiting off of women’s rights violations.

“Using serious issues to promote your song is wild,” a frustrated Twitter user wrote, with Latto writing back: “Orrrr I took my frustrations to the booth like a RAPPER & using my platform to spread awareness.”

A second user accused Latto of not doing enough to help women in need.

“I actually am donating proceeds,” the “Big Energy” rapper replied. “Yall be the same ones saying ‘why u gotta post everything’ if I do & assume I’m not doing it if I don’t post it lol however I AM using my power (platform) to make a change regardless shut yo fake woke ass up what are YOU doing???”

She continued: “Y’all complain about female rap lacking substance but then say I’m ‘capitalizing’ when I speak on shit. help me understand???”

    1. Yeah, you every other female rapper out there. Shit is getting boring. Why does it make you feel empowered? Cuz you can get some dick? You have a vagina, men like those. It ain’t complicated. Setting the bar pretty low for yourself.

      1. PREACH. There’s nothing empowering about rapping about pussy and dick and showing your ass. These female rappers today, lol. Just say sex sells and the labels want that….

    2. Now that’s my queen right there, i’m somewhat curious about them nails tho like say if we were to get it on in the bedroom would she craw up my back just like how the Roman soldier did to the backside of Jesus with that nail spiked whip? uh nothing kinky about that, just saying guys.

    3. Yeah, you were so empowered, you changed your name to bend over for cancel culture. Betcha Trina wouldnt have done that shit 20 years ago Miss Mulatto.

    4. It blows my mind that there is a posibility that on this planet some people may exist that would enjoy listening to this retarded song. (apart from the rolling stone mag staff, these are a different breed)…a scary place ithis world we live in

    5. Simple minded chicks that shit get old. You and every other woman on instagram its always sex. Damn do you got any other talents can you put a lego together. Just like social media everyday its their body half ass naked. They dont show no skills no talents no personality. Bunch of one trick ponies.

    6. Nah, yall gotta rap about sex and being hoes or else the label will drop you. Unfortunately they need yall to be these types of “role models” for little girls so they can be just like you. The male version of this is the murderous drug dealing demon that goes to prison. These labels are pushing a narrative on todays youth, and its sad

      1. If the youth is dumb enough to actually follow these “role models” – it’s not labels’ problem, it’s your upbringing/education problem.

    7. Looksike the cia/feds have a new bozo to mislead the youth. The charade is over and people know what’s up.
