Sica has a new EP on the way.

Earlier today (July 20), the Filipino rapper posted a preview of his upcoming EP, Baby Blu. No release date has been shared, but Sica shared in a separate Facebook post that it’s coming out “soon.”

A screenshot of four audio files was shared on Facebook yesterday, bearing the following titles: “SUR LUV,” “PAMBIHIRA” (Great), “OBSESSED,” and “BAGALAN” (Slow down). According to the liner notes, the EP was produced by Rayan Castillo and will be released under Greenhouse Records. He wrote, “SHIT’S STILL RAW, MY BAD. IT’S DROPPING ANYTIME THOUGH, SO… I’MMA SEE YOU ALL SOON <3”

Last week, Sica shared an untitled demo on SoundCloud, which follows the loosie “Dark Out” (produced by Arch Beats & Pxyche) from April. The track was included in the May edition of HipHopDX Asia’s list of Best Asian Hip Hop & R&B of 2022. We wrote, “Sica’s balmy new single, ‘Dark Out,’ is built on loosely textured moods, anchored by a  cloud rap beat helmed by Arch Beats & Pxyche.

The Filipino rapper and producer who first made his name as a member of rap group Kartell’em doubles down on the theme with a preference for idleness or at least resisting the impulse of being occupied all the time.

In the age of pandemic where self-isolation is not a choice, it’s not a surprise that many people tend to prefer the quiet to be the norm, tune the world out, and keep it dark out.”
