YG has released “Run,” his new single with 21 Savage, Tyga, and BIA that the Compton rapper teased on Wednesday (June 22). The music video finds YG and Tyga playing the role of bank robbers as they don White Chicks-style makeup and deck themselves out in a Matrix-esque all-black attire to get the job done.
The new single arrives after YG dropped off “Scared Money” in February, which featured appearances from J. Cole and Moneybagg Yo. Both “Run” and “Scared Money” will likely appear on YG’s forthcoming sixth studio album Pray For Me, which he announced in February. Judging by both singles so far, Pray For Me could potentially be a feature-heavy affair.
“When I do the features I be doing, it’s always who would be unexpected or who I ain’t work with yet or who is really gonna do the record justice lyrically with bars,” YG told Power 106 earlier this year.
“[Pray For Me] is just gonna be my truth, as far as my life right now. It’s just the growth of me, my headspace, what I’m on in life. And I think the whole COVID pandemic shit, I hated it, but I also look at it as like this shit kinda helped me get to where I’m at mentally.”
The last time fans got a YG project was in 2021 with Kommunity Service, a full-length collaboration with fellow West Coast rapper Mozzy that featured appearances from Ty Dolla $ign, Young M.A, A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, Tyga, G Herbo and 2022 HipHopDX Rising Star Blxst.
“Run” can also be streamed on Spotify below.
