With about 12 hours until 2000‘s initial scheduled arrival, Joey Bada$$ took to Twitter on Thursday (June 16) with the devastating news that he’ll be delaying the album’s release due to sampling clearance issues.
“Man I got some terrible news,” he wrote. “My album won’t be coming out tonight due to sample clearance issues . Right now, it’s unclear how long I’ll have to postpone it but my hope is no more than 2 weeks. I wanted to have a new date before I told you guys but it’s out of my control.”
The Brooklyn native doesn’t expect the delay to be long, but should have a firm date by Monday (June 20). On the bright side, he’s still planning to release a single on Friday featuring an assist from Chance The Rapper.
“I’ll keep you guys updated obviously, I’m almost certain I’ll have a new date by Monday,” he continued. “On the bright side me and Chance’s new song drops tmrw.”

The Pro Era leader has been all over the place with his random Twitter rants earlier this week. First, he revealed the solar eclipse eye issues were a hoax just to get off Logic’s tour.
His stream of consciousness was seemingly sparked by outrage on social media directed at Lizzo for using “Spaz” in a lyric on her new single “GRRRLs.” Lizzo quickly caved to the public scrutiny and edited the bar. However, like Cardi B, Joey wouldn’t have been swayed by a portion of the public’s reaction.
It’s been five years since 2017’s All-Amerikkkan Bada$$, so what is another two weeks? Keep an eye out for a new 2000 date soon.
