J. Cole Signs Contract With Professional Canadian Basketball Team

    J. Cole refuses to give up on his hoop dreams. For the second consecutive year, the North Carolina-bred rap icon will be playing professional basketball.

    Following his stint with the Rwanda Patriots BBC in the Basketball Africa League, Cole is reportedly taking his talents north of the border to the Canadian Elite Basketball League to suit up for the Scarborough Shooting Stars.

    The Athletic‘s Shams Charania broke the news Thursday night (May 19) of Cole’s next basketball endeavor as training camp began this week. The league is set to host its season openers on May 26 with the Shooting Stars paying a visit to the Guelph Nighthawks.

    J. Cole is signing [a] contract with the Scarborough Shooting Stars in the Canadian Elite Basketball League, the rap star’s second consecutive year playing professionally,” he wrote. “CEBL training camp began this week, with season opener on May 26.”

    J. Cole continues to work on his game in hopes of one day getting a shot in the NBA. Even at age 37, he’s been known to work out with NBA pros and got some run in scrimmaging with the Orlando Magic last September.

    The Dreamville leader’s Rwanda stint produced middling results with him posting a stat line of five points, three assists and five rebounds in 45 minutes coming off the bench in the three preliminary matchups. The team went 2-1 in games he appeared in.

    Former NBA All-Star Jamaal Magloire serves as the Shooting Stars’ Vice President and Senior Advisor so it’s possible he played a role in signing Cole.

    2. hes 37 so what, rappers get into movies j cole is doing what he always loved to do and that is to play ball… i hate to see a man hating on another man cause they dont see more in life…. i respect any rapper that get into other things but movies that easy j has that mind set of becoming the next big thing when it dont matter how old you is and how u do it
