The late Young Dolph has posthumously earned his first solo platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
The certification was announced by the RIAA on Monday (March 28) for Dolph’s single “Major,” which features his cousin Key Glock. The single comes after Dolph previously scored his first platinum plaque for his work on OT Genasis’ 2015 blockbuster hit “Cut It,” but “Major” marks the first time Dolph has achieved the feat solo dolo.
“Major” also marks the first time Glock and Dolph had linked up on a track together since the former’s signing to Paper Route Empire in 2017.
The single peaked at No. 47 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and, as Dolph said in an interview with Drink Champs, it apparently led to a $22 million signing offer from a major label. “It really was a good deal, a super good deal to tell you the truth,” Dolph said. “But it’s just, I see something else.”

The plaque comes after Dolph was fatally shot last November as he was picking up baked goods from Makeda’s Homemade Cookies in his hometown of Memphis. He was just 36 years old.
In January, Justin “Straight Drop” Johnson, Cornelius Smith and an alleged accomplice were all arrested by law enforcement and charged with his murder. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Marshals and the Memphis Police Department all engaged in a nationwide manhunt for Johnson for less than a week prior to his apprehension.

According to TMZ, Johnson was recently assaulted while in Tennessee’s Shelby County Jail during the middle of a phone call as suspected retaliation for Dolph’s murder. The pair are due back in the courtroom on April 21.
