It’s been three years since the world has heard the sounds
of Columbus, OH emcee/producer Blueprint.
Those wondering when new music was going to be released can now sit back and
enjoy.

Inspired by his rediscovery of the George Clinton led Funkadelic’s
catalogue. Writing rhymes to beats that Blueprint
created using samples of their music.

“For me, the project
kind of spawned out of my discovery of Funkadelic’s music a few years back. I
had been collecting records for a long while but wasn’t really as familiar with
Funkadelic’s catalog as I was with Parliament’s catalog until recently when my
uncle gave me his record collection. I would always hear people refer to them
as P-Funk, and for quite a while I thought they were the same thing,”
Blueprint told HipHopDX.

A project years in the making is finally seeing the light of
day as Blueprint feels it is now
complete.

“After hearing one of
Funkadelic’s records I immediately made a beat out of one song and immediately wrote
a song to it that same day (“Don’t make me laugh”). I kept revisiting
this record to make more and more beats, and soon after I asked my DJ to borrow
all the Funkadelic records he owned for a couple weeks. So I started making
beats out of as much of their music as I could and putting lyrics to them; some
stuff i wrote on the spot, other stuff was ideas that I had played with
before but never finished. I had the record pretty much done for a couple of
years but I felt like I didn’t have any audio of them speaking that really
explained what they were about, so I put it on hold until I could find some
interviews. Once i found them i finished it up, and here it is,”
continued ‘print.
