Comedian T.K. Kirkland thinks T.I. can and will financially make a killing in the comedy circuit — but not necessarily because he’s any good.
“T.I., because he’s a phenomenal rapper, will sell out every comedy club in America, because he’s T.I. and [he’ll] make 70, 80 thousand on the weekends just because he T.I.,” Kirkland said in a sit-down with VladTV on Monday (February 28). “Life’s not fair.”
He continued, “But if he stays with it, guess what? He could probably become really decent in seven, eight, nine years. ‘Cause all it takes is practice. He’s got a great stage presence about him. He’s been around comedy for a minute. I know him very well, so he could probably pull it off. But right now, he could probably make a million, two million dollars this year and not even be good. His fan base in the rap world will come see him do standup and support him.”
Kirkland concluded his comments by giving T.I. a shout out and said he supported him for “doing his thing,” which is a drastically different response than what comic Godfrey had to say about Tip’s recent entry into the comedy world.

Speaking on his In Godfrey We Trust podcast last week, Godfrey said he didn’t consider the 41-year-old lyricist to be a comedian and was upset because the famed rapper decided he wanted to do a follow-up set after Godfrey. “As a headliner, no one is supposed to go up after you,” the comic said.

T.I. inevitably learned of Godfrey’s remarks and hopped on Instagram Live confused as to why the comic felt the need to say what he said.
