The Roots are at it again with
their tenth disc, Rising Down, which features a who’s who of stellar
guest appearances. Common, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, and original
member Malik B all appear on the album.

R&B songbird Chrisette
Michele
, featured on the cut “Rising Up,” recently sang her answer to
HipHopDX asked about the project. “Yesterday I saw a big girl crying,
I walked up and asked what’s wrong…I’m feeling The Roots.
Check out the new single I did with them. The Roots are what’s
up right now.

L.O.X. member Styles P, who recently collaborated
with Roots‘ emcee Black Thought on the “Because I’m Black” single off his own Super
Gangster
solo disc, also shared his feelings with DX on working with
the Legendary Roots crew on the Rising Down single that also features
Mos Def and Dice Raw. “I love The Roots. I’m known as
a street dude, so I think it’s important for me to take time out and
drop a jewel, make a cut with The Roots, or a cut like ‘I’m Black.’
You gotta let the youth know you can be from there but you could still
be here too. A dirty project kid from where I’m from
is gonna love Talib [Kweli] and Common. But I’m telling them I did all
that and you can still care about the community. Styles P is letting
people know it’s okay to be a man.

Rising Down is out April 29th.
