Hip Hop Blogger Kollege Kidd Co-Founder Raysean Autry Dies From COVID-19

Raysean Autry, the co-founder of the popular Hip Hop blog Kollege Kidd, has reportedly passed away from COVID-19. His twin brother, Rich Autry, also a Kollege Kidd co-founder, is currently fighting off the coronavirus in the hospital.

In an interview with The Sun, Raysean’s brother PJ Taylor revealed Ray Autry passed away on December 29 from pneumonia induced by COVID-19.

“He had been hospitalized for at least a couple of weeks in Toledo, Ohio,” Taylor stated. “He was 34 years old. We were blindsided by his death. We couldn’t even celebrate the holidays. His brother Rich is still in the hospital. They were on the same floor.”

The self-proclaimed “Leader of the New Skool,” Raysean focused on covering contemporary rap music and cultural commentary similar to DJ Akademiks. Over the course of his career, he garnered over 1.2 million followers on Instagram and over 371,000 YouTube subscribers.

Kollege Kidd’s most recent post was promotional for Jay Loud’s new project “Soul Talk,” which is now mostly just filled with R.I.P. comments expressing their condolences to the media head.

Once the news began to spread, several of Kollege Kidd’s blogging peers such as DJ Vlad, SayCheese TV and No Jumper commented on Autry’s passing.

“Man, this news about the co-owner of Kollege Kidd dying from COVID really hit close to him as a fellow media outlet,” Vlad wrote. “He looks like he’s maybe 30 years old. I’ve never met either of those guys, but they have a page that I’ve been checking daily for years.”

HipHopDX sends our condolences to the friends and family of Ray Autry.

      1. He’s an anti-vaxxer

Who knows how many people he spread to, hospital spot he took up, resources and time allocated for treatment.

        All to be anti-vaxx.

Guess avoiding the jab was worth it to him.

        1. If you did some digging you would have also read he had pneumonia. So it would be hard to say right away if he died with covid, or of covid. There’s a difference. It’s sad either way, and even sadder that you; and this website want to politicize his death because he didn’t get the shot. I swear y’all are part of a cult. Fuckin vultures. The tribalism behind the shot is real. What if he did have the shot and still died? What would you say then?

          1. We get caught up in not knowing the particulars, but wanting to be right, and it makes us even more vulnerable. That ignorance is life threatening. Pneumonia caused by a coronavirus, is unique to COVID. It is and has been the main cause of death for COVID. And on x-ray, it is a unique appearance only seen with COVID infections. Even more sadly, it has been affecting Black communities at higher rates than white.

What COVID should tell us in the Black community is we need to address our wellness and sickness paradigms and improve our health and healthcare knowledge.

            1. pneumonia is caused by the medication they
Give you! It ruins your. Kidneys and when they slowly stop working it fills up your lungs

    1. Damn, sad news as I’ve been a reader of his blog for at least a decade I’d say. This Rona shit is real yo, my guess is that he caught the Delta strain of Covid which is still the dominant strain in the US right now, because they say that Omicron is the equivalent of just a mild cold. Everyone has a right to not take the vaccine but just remember that you could wind up like this poor guy. RIP Raysean Autry

    2. Than I would say he did everything in his power to protect himself and others and that’s very sad he was part of the micro percentage who are fully vaccinated and perished.
