Kanye West is coming to Sundance. While it’s still unclear if Kanye himself will be present, Netflix’s three-part Jeen-Yuhs documentary recounting Kanye’s rise to stardom is set to premiere at the 2022 Sundance Festival in late January.
Directed by Clarence “Coodie” Simmons and Chike Ozah, the doc will then land on Netflix for streaming to the masses at a later date in 2022.
“Shot over 20 years, this documentary trilogy is an intimate and revealing portrait of Kanye West’s experience, showcasing both his formative days trying to break through and his life today as a global brand and artist,” Netflix said in a statement.

Jeen-Yuhs contains plenty of never-before-scene footage of Kanye West during the early days of his career where he had to prove he had what it takes to be a superstar rapper and producer when many didn’t believe in him.

The first trailer for the documentary arrived in September which showcases a time circa 2002 when Kanye West was in New York City with Mos Def rapping a cappella to their 2004 College Dropout collaboration “Two Words.”
While Kanye isn’t officially involved in the doc, he did sign off on both Simmons and Ozah using the footage they took of him throughout the last two decades. According to Pitchfork, the documentary was sold for over $30 million in April.
