NLE Choppa Hopes To Decrease Memphis Crime Rate With Vegan Food Truck

Whether it’s meditation or herbalism, NLE Choppa is all about promoting a calmer and healthier lifestyle. So much, he’s just launched his very own food truck in his hometown of Memphis. With the power of better food, the 18-year-old rapper hopes his This Can’t Be Vegan company can help decrease the city’s crime rate and increase the amount of people in eduction.

“Yo, wassup, it’s NLE Choppa,” he began in a video uploaded to Twitter on Saturday (September 25). “And I’m so, so, so proud to announce what I manifested is up and running. Memphis, I feel like, is a place where vegan food is needed the most ’cause I know, just by getting our hands on better food will change the thought process. Possibly the crime rate will go down, scholars will go up… anything. Bro, I have a vegan food truck that will be mobile across the city, from hood to hood, suburb to suburb.”

He continued, “This will be at the vegan festival for today. And I’m just proud because we gon’ be selling many vegan options and we gon’ have a lot in store and it’s just gon’ be exciting for me. It’s exciting. I’m just happy and proud. So yeah, NLE’s This Can’t Be Vegan food truck, you see it, man. On top of the vegan food, I will be selling my herbal products on this food truck. So you can get your detox tea or seamosses, rosemary, whatever, you can get it on this food truck. We got it all, let’s go.”

NLE Choppa has been living a vegan lifestyle since August 2020. During a conversation with Jermaine Dupri for The Beet, he explained what made him go down that route.

“I meditate a lot, and when I was in the beginning stages of mediation, I peeped how my body would react when I would put certain things in it,” he said in February. “So let’s say I meditate for 30 minutes and come out of the meditation with energy. Now I go eat some chicken or a burger or some shit and I get back to being tired, or my mindset gets back to the state of mind I was in before I meditated.”

He added, “So as I started to peep my body, realize how my body was reacting to certain foods, I told myself that I had to go cold turkey–I just cut out meat completely. I found the nearest vegan place in Atlanta and after that, I’ve been vegan ever since.”

At the time, NLE Choppa said there were limited vegan options in Memphis and hoped to enter the market himself.

“I’m not gonna lie, there’s like two [vegan spots],” he said. “It’s not like L.A. I just get a chef in my house to cook, shoutout to Brandon, and shoutout to Miss Tam, they’re always whipping something up for me. I’m trying to put something out there myself.”

      1. And what are you doing to improve society? Yes, he’s not the most articulate and sends mixed messages but his heart seems to be in the right place. How many other 18 year olds have taken as many strides as him in social entrepreneurship. I don’t think I’ve ever even heard one of his records but he’s doing more than half the “Lils” I see.

    1. yeah dumbass for spreading good food…which increases cognitive functioning and health…what are you feeding people or eating yourself? whos a dumbass ..stop hating because you dont love your own health ..the dude is benefitting the world with his lifestyle and wants to share….but then again so do you…hatin online …grow up bro its 2021

    2. I dont get how he thinks a vegan food truck will bring the crime rate down and educate people. Well fed and healthy people are still broke. If anything, rappers are to blame for the crime rate because gangsta rap and the culture it preaches inspire these young kids to grab their “draco” and shoot up their “opps” while they sell fentanyl and cocaine to destroy their entire community. As big of a gangsta rap fan as I am, the only way for the crime rate to go down is for gangsta rap and its culture to go away. Snatch the microphone away from these guys and stop giving them deals and start giving the youth positive role models to look up to at an early age. Of course this wont never happen.

    3. Thank you NLE Choppa for spreading the word about meditation and the benefits of a vegan diet. Check out Dr. Sebi for more info regarding diet and His Holiness Dalai Llama for information regarding Tibetan Buddhist meditation.

    5. He should start addressing the single parent household crisis in the black community. That would be the logical thing to do
