Nas Announces ‘King’s Disease 2’ Will Arrive Same Day As Kanye West ‘Donda’

Nas has announced a follow-up to his Grammy Award-winning album King’s Disease. On Thursday (July 29), the veteran Hip Hop artist revealed the cover art for King’s Disease II along with a release date of Friday (August 6).

“We’re back in business!” he wrote in the caption. “King’s Disease II • 8/6.”

August 6 is also the same day Kanye West is supposed to deliver Donda — but everyone knows how quickly that could change.

King’s Disease II will serve as Nas’ thirteenth studio album alongside classics such as 1994’s Illmatic and 1996’s It Was Written. Despite the Queensbridge native’s extensive discography, 2021 marked the first time he’d won a Grammy Award in the Best Rap Album category.

Even though he was up against other celebrated projects such as Royce Da 5’9’s The Allegory and Freddie Gibbs & The Alchemist’s Alfredo, he still walked away victorious.

Review: 'King's Disease' Is Food For True Nas Fans' Soul

King’s Disease arrived in August 2020 with appearances from Charlie Wilson, Hit-Boy, Big Sean, Don Toliver, Lil Durk, Anderson .Paak, Brucie B, Nas’s supergroup The Firm, Fivio Foreign and A$AP Ferg.

The project debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 with roughly 47,000 total album-equivalent units sold in its first week. Despite the Top 5 debut, only one single from the album charted on the Billboard Hot 100 — “Spicy” with Fivio and Ferg, which squeezed in at No. 96.

The excitement for a sequel is palpable in the comment section, with Hit-Boy, Ludacris, Justin Timberlake, Steve Lobel and Carmelo Anthony among the many who weighed in.

    1. That cover reminds me of the earlier Nas album covers. I like it. Can’t wait to hear these new songs.

    2. Please bring some quality production in nas. One of the best to do it with some of the most unlistenable songs due to poor beat selection

    3. I love Nas… that grammy was a lifetime achievement award though. The last album was good, but album of the year? Nah. Luckily there wasnt much uproar because the competition was weak as well. Hopefully this one is better and a true album of the year.

      1. Except the competition wasn’t weak as hell. Freddie Gibbs and Royce put out amazing albums. All three were deserving.

    4. Finally a real artist and not a weirdo and quacky like Kimye. Screw Donda stupid album and the ratchet who passed from plastic surgery. Kimye a cuckold sitting there with his stank breath smelling like Ray J Balls. He the biggest clown in music…he wants the whole world to think he a genius….buddy Ur baby mom a ratchet….he gotta live with that

    5. Payback for that weak 7 track shit stain kanye had to involve himself in. No more nas/kanye collaborations since!

      1. Couldn’t agree more. Don’t see the hype with hitboy, unless you want over produced twinkle beats.

      2. You’re tripping. King’s Disease was fire. Car 85 is legitimately a top 20 Nas song, if not top 10.

    6. It’s good to see Nas making another album The first King’s Disease was good it puts pressure on Kanye and Drake for album of The Year

      1. Kanye couldn’t outrap a spoiled tired kid openings his 100th present

    7. YE ISNT DROPPING AND HE CLEARLY ISNT INSPIRED. HE’S OUT HERE DRESSING LIKE MASE AND WESTSIDE GUNN PRETENDING TO BE HOMELESS.

      1. But honestly, everybody who buys Nas will buy Ye, it’s not like they only have the option of one or the other just because they came out the same day. I don’t understand why people think that way though. But on the other hand, not all Ye fans are Nas fans. But I’ll be a majority are.
In other words, I’ll have enough money to buy Ye and Nas on the same day.

        1. Yeah at this point nas dgaf about record sales. So let Kanye sell more.. Nas wants that smoke of the two albums being compared I believe.

          1. It’s not the same industry it once was. Who buys albums anymore? I got Apple Music. There’s more then enough time in a given day to stream both of them. If nas shit is crazy, I’m gonna stream Kanye right after to see if it crazier, or vice versa….no one goes out an buys albums anymore, I don’t think 2 coming out the same day will negatively effect each other….it’s good for hip hop, real hip hop, at the end of the day. Nas to me the GOAT, Kanye up there to in his own way….so fuck it, aug 6 be a good day regardless.

    8. Kanye will still sell more albums no matter how good or bad album is. I’m not saying the album will be better but Nas in pop culture gets overlooked but no complaints 2 legends dropping LPs on the same day

    9. Update: Drakes album is completed and we will wonder how he sells the most…I liked Scorpion but if this is like Views it’s going sound like a high school prom, Hotline Bling catchy song hardly rapping and dancing with a winter coat lmao Grown ups know this shit is funny come on haha

    10. Nas is smart, he know what he doing. Releasing the same day is another Grammy nomination automatically. Plus it’s better to sell on the same day as Ye, not Drake.
