Def Jam Philippines officially launches with its massive Rekognize project: a series of 4 EPs featuring 120+ artists and 14 music producers from the country. The project kicks off with the release of the star-studded Nite N’ Day EP.

In a virtual press conference held on April 15, the label also introduced its initial roster: VVS Collective, Tiffany Lhei, SCYE, DonWilson, Eurieka, Tommie King, J-Nine, Fateeha, and JMara.

On the launch, A&R Senior Manager Allan Mitchell “Daddy A” Silonga said, “It will be huge and again will be centered in cultivating and promoting the hip-hop and R&B culture and community. It’s gonna be a celebration of Pinoy pride, heart, and dignity.”

To pump up the campaign, Def Jam Philippines dropped the visuals for “Atin Ang Gabi,” by an all-star assembly of Al James, Legit Misfitz, K247, and Calvin De Leon. The track is one of the lead singles of Nite N’ Day EP.

The music video starts with a statement that it was filmed under COVID-19 health and safety protocols, with all participants tested prior to the video shoot. Mass gatherings are still strictly prohibited in the Philippines, which continues to see a rise of coronavirus cases.

The MV drop shortly follows the lyric video for “H247” by Aero., Krazykyle, Matthaios, One3D, Spottie, Tommie King, and Pikaso. Pre-EP release single, “Beautiful Day” by Mike Swift, D-Coy, Alisson Shore, kiyo, and Mark Beats was released in February.
