Singapore’s up-and-coming rapper YHB Sleepsalot teams up with Malaysia’s SonaOne on “Jatuh Boi” (“Fall Boy”), produced by Flightsch and RIIDEM via Def Jam Singapore. “Jatuh Boi” turns a commonly used phrase that connotes failure into “an empowering triumph against adversity,” according to a press statement.

“‘Jatuh Boi’ serves as an anthem to anyone who has gone through tough times wanting to push forward,” YHB explains. “I took the phrase and I flipped it into something positive and empowering.” He also added that the collaboration with SonaOne is a dream come true. “He has constantly been someone I look up to. We have great chemistry together so our workflow coming out with this song was very quick and natural.”

The song was “made new from scratch within 24 hours, working long distance via Zoom,” according to SonaOne. “The concept is something that we and many people can relate to, and we hope to inspire others not to give up and rise again even when they fall,” he added.
