Just three days after Lil Wayne was arrested, upon being
stopped at a Border Patrol Checkpoint in southwest Arizona, the rapper has been
formally charged with felony drug and weapon charges in a Arizona courtroom
today (Jan. 25).
According to the Associated Press, Lil Wayne (real name Dwayne
Michael Carter Jr.) was charged with one count each of possession of a
narcotic drug for sale, possession of dangerous drugs, misconduct involving
weapons as well as one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
A preliminary hearing has been set for Feb. 12 with Lil Wayne free on bail, after a judge
lifted a bail restriction allowing Wayne
to leave the state.
“He is very concerned
about the charges,” says Wayne’s
attorney, James Tilson. “He absolutely
will be present at his next court date.”
