Cardi B wants the Hip Hop industry to put some respect on the names of female rappers. In the past, Cardi B has been vocal about the unfair standards women in rap have to live up to when compared to their male counterparts, and she labeled female rappers as the most “disrespected” in Hip Hop once again on Thursday (June 24).
“Female rappers have to bust their ass on performances ,great visuals,hours on make up ,hours on hair ,pressure by the public to look perfect,make great music and yet are The most disrespected,” she exploded on Twitter. “It’s always they not good enough,what’s new? It’s boring,Why her not me.”
The fiery tweet came in response to a fan wondering why guys can jump around on stage while performing with their entourage when women need to have choreographed dances and will still face higher levels of criticism. Cardi hopped in after seeing a fan showing love to her 2019 BET Awards performance of “Clout” and “Press” to open the award show.

This isn’t the first time Cardi B has voiced her frustrations with the unfair standards and pressure she has to live up to as one of the premier female rap superstars. She even shared her thoughts with Mariah Carey, who had similar experiences, in February for Interview Magazine.

“People always have crazy expectations, especially when it comes to female rap,” the Bronx native explained. “It’s not like it’s a competition, but people are always comparing and comparing and comparing. It’s almost like they want to see you fail.
“I hate the feeling when I don’t do something really good. So I want my shit to be good because my last album did so well, and if this one doesn’t do well, I’m going to feel really sad.”
The Grammy Award-winner is working towards the release of her anticipated sophomore album later this year.
