Former Bad Boy Records artist Black Rob passed away at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta on Saturday (April 17) at the age of 52. Prior to his death, people berated Bad Boy founder Diddy for not stepping in with his millions of dollars and helping the “Whoa!” rapper sooner. But according to fellow Bad Boy alum Mark Curry, Diddy had already been in contact with Rob and wanted to offer his assistance.

Black Rob, who suffered a series of strokes in 2015 and was recently hospitalized for an unknown ailment, was believed to be suffering from a rare kidney disease, but his death is being attributed to cardiac arrest. While Diddy may have been too late to help with medical costs, Page Six reports the Hip Hop mogul wants to help pay for Black Rob’s funeral.

A source reportedly said, “Diddy offered help for Rob but in the end, sadly, it was too late. He wants to make sure Rob is laid to rest with dignity and according to his wishes. He is helping to make the funeral arrangements.”

Curry has been instrumental in spreading the word about Black Rob’s final days. Speaking to Rolling Stone last week, he explained Diddy reached out to Rob the day before he died and the two had made amends.

“Before Rob passed, he said, ‘One thing I was going to do before I leave this earth is make sure we all speak to each other again,'” Curry said. “It’s always great to see when people are growing and learning to forgive.” He added, “[Rob] was very concerned in getting his life together health-wise. He didn’t have any vices. He was walking the good life and his spirits were good. A true inspiration. A great heart. A kind spirit. He’s gonna be missed all over.”
