Saweetie graced the cover of the latest Cosmopolitan issue on Tuesday (March 23), but the “ICY GRL” rapper wasn’t talking about her headline-grabbing breakup with Quavo just yet. Instead, Saweetie spoke on her plans to continue leveling-up and take over the music industry.

While the wins continue to pile up for the Bay Area native, Saweetie still wanted to confront those throwing the “pretty privilege” label on her in an attempt to discredit her success because of her looks.

“I won’t act like there isn’t a certain type of power that comes with people admiring your face,” she said. “But that’s not something that gets me off. I like being Female Athlete of the Year. I like getting 4.0s for a straight year. I like knowing that I write my own songs. I like knowing that I create my own treatments. I like knowing that I donated $150,000 to Black Lives Matter.”

Maintaining that mentality has inspired the creation of Saweetie’s official debut album, Pretty Bitch Music, which is expected to release this spring.

“It’s my way of taking back all those years where I feel I had to dim my light,” she explained.

Saweetie also reflected on getting “PTSD” following her botched 2018 Hot 97 freestyle, which drew the ire of morning show host Ebro Darden.

“It was a really dark point in my life,” she admitted. “I went from being so loved so quickly because of ‘Icy Grl’ to, on my first promo run, well, you saw the interview. The script flipped really quick, like night and day. I was like, Wait…I had PTSD from that.”

The 27-year-old confirmed her love story with Quavo had come to an end on Friday (March 19) with a tweet suggesting he’d been unfaithful.

Saweetie Confirms Quavo Breakup: 'Love Isn’t Real When The Intimacy Is Given To Other Women'

“I’m single,” Saweetie wrote. “I’ve endured too much betrayal and hurt behind the scenes for a false narrative to be circulating that degrades my character. Presents don’t band-aid scars and the love isn’t real when the intimacy is given to other women.”
