New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom was the scene of a record company publicity stunt on Tuesday. To coincide with the release of Lil Bow Wow’s second album Doggy Bag, Jermaine Dupri arranged to have him give a free show to fans. Well, it was kinda free. You had to buy the new album to get in.
The 14-year-old Cleveland rapper took the stage at around 6 p.m., nice and early so that the show would finish before bedtime, and opened with a new track called “Get Up.” He danced, rhymed and basically moved the crowd as he rapped through new songs, and old favorites from 2000’s Beware of Dog. He finished up with his biggest hit “Bow Wow (That’s my Name)”
By the way, in the tradition of his doggfather Snoop, Lil Bow Wow is now calling himself Bow Weezy.
