Hit-Boy Says Beat For New Benny The Butcher Single Was Made For JAY-Z & Kanye West’s ‘Watch The Throne’

Hit-Boy has been on a roll in 2020. The superproducer shed light on the origination of Benny The Butcher‘s upcoming Burden of Proof single “TIMELESS,” which releases on Friday (October 9), saying he’s had the beat sitting in the stash for nearly a decade.

Hit-Boy actually made the beat being slaughtered by Benny The Butcher, Big Sean and Lil Wayne for JAY-Z and Kanye West while they were cooking up Watch The Throne in 2011, but it wasn’t picked.

“The beat for This new @getbenny single ft @liltunechi and @bigsean dropping tomorrow was made in 2011 at the Mercer hotel for jay z and Kanye west #watchthethrone it wasn’t picked,” he wrote to Instagram (October 7). “I was actually hot I made a beat this good and they picked something like n*ggas in Paris which was one of my more simple beats. That was a blessing in disguise.”

Hit-Boy made the post to inspire other producers to never give up on their ideas for placements, as you never know what the future holds. The clip is from a studio session of Big Sean rapping along to his verse on the track. Sean Don was the latest addition to the single after the original version of “TIMELESS” leaked with just Benny and Lil Wayne.

Hit-Boy & Freddie Gibbs Lock In The Studio

The “N*ggas In Paris” producer served as the executive producer behind Nas’ King’s Disease and Big Sean’s Detroit 2 earlier this year. Hit locked in with Benny The Butcher to produce the entirety of Burden of Proof, which will feature Freddie Gibbs. The Griselda rapper is also sitting on the sequel to his The Plugs I Met project with Harry Fraud.

Look for “TIMELESS” on Friday (October 9).

    1. Can someone explain to me what the craze about Griselda is? Is it just rooted in nostalgia for the Golden Era? I’m not hating I feel like I missed the train on understanding this one.

      1. Part of it is nostalgia for that old golden era , east coast, Mobb Deep-G Rap style hip hop. But MOST of it is that the niggas can just flat out spit. I mean grimmy, street, lyrically sound bars. Rooted in reality. Its really a master class in counter programming, because its so opposite of the pristine, shinny, commercial industry rap. Plus they are so consistently putting out music thats its bound to be something that earworms Into yiur consciousness. Pickup Conway the amachines latest joint. The bars, wordplay and quality is incredible. H

        1. Much thanks to ya’ll for that breakdown. I don’t go out of my way to listen to new music and my first introduction was through… Westside Gunn… which completely turned me off, his voice, adlibd, image, and content wasn’t for me and I just figured birds of a feather. Although I’m a bit over thug rap and honestly don’t think anyone can do it better than Mobb that comparison alone is definitely worth checking them out. Thanks

        2. all FACTZ!!! benny and conway get busy!! they got them “rewindable” bars..like yo did u hear what he just said!!

      2. its a bit of nostalgia but honestly they can rap. Just for the mere fact that they got bars immediately separates them from this current crop of mainstream artists.

    2. It isn’t JUST nostalgia. People like the sound, and they can actually spit (well conway, and benny can). What is there to understand?, it is not like they are even big mainstream artists. They have a cult following. People just like the music, get over yourself
