“This is our south…no matter how we look at it” said a member of the National Hip Hop Political Convention as he cited Mychal Bell‘s family leaving the courthouse in tears after the Judge would not grant Bell bail nor bond.
After thousands rallied yesterday in Jena, Louisiana in the defense of the Jena 6, many hoped that the hearing for Mychal Bell today would result in him being released on bail from a jail cell. But the court would not be moved by the rally.
Mychal Bell has sat in a jail cell for over 9 months after being arrested and tried for attempted murder since the attack of white classmate, Justin Barker. While a small victory was achieved this past weekend as the court overturned the ruling citing that Bell be tried as a juvenile instead of an adult, which was followed by a bond hearing announced during the protests yesterday, it would all be a moot point as Judge J.P. Mauffray decided Bell‘s fate.
“We’ll be back,” supporters shouted as many left in tears, upset about the ruling. For more information on this Click Here and please leave your comments.
