Frank Ocean’s younger brother Ryan Breaux, 18, was reportedly killed in a car accident on Sunday (August 2). According to ABC 7 News, Breaux wasn’t the only fatality. The single-vehicle collision happened just after 1:30 a.m. in Thousand Oaks, California with two occupants in the vehicle.
The initial investigation concluded the car was traveling south on Westlake Boulevard when it appeared to veer off the roadway and hit a tree in the center median. The vehicle was ripped in half upon impact and discovered by Ventura County sheriff’s deputies engulfed in flames. Ventura County Fire Department pronounced both occupants dead at the scene.
The news outlet chose not to release their names until next of kin can be notified by the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office. But according to US Weekly, Breaux was traveling with his 20-year-old classmate Ezekial “Zeek” Bishop.
A memorial for the two young men was held in Westlake Village on Sunday night as tributes on social media continue to pour in. Actor Pierce Brosnan’s son Paris, who was a close friend of Breaux’s, penned an emotional eulogy to Breaux on Instagram, writing, “To my brother, who was talented beyond belief, possessed a heart of gold, had an energy that was infectious, a smile & laugh that lifted everyone’s spirit, and was a loyal and authentic friend to anyone he knew. You were just getting started and ready to show the world who you were. You were a leader and you had a whole army of loyal soldiers behind you.
