Miami, FL

After weeks of shenanigans engaging in online beef with Akademiks, Freddie Gibbs is back to remind me all internet users he and The Alchemist have one of the best albums of 2020 in Alfredo with the release of his “Scottie Beam” video.

Set in Miami and directed by James “JMP” Pereira, the mini-movie adopts the cinematography and plotline found in Lena Waithe’s 2019 thriller Queen & Slim as Gangsta Gibbs and actress Ashly Robinson (portraying the personified role of media personality Scottie Beam) attempt to turn a shit sandwich into a tropical vacation.

The dangerous couple link with Miami mayor Rick Ross (who has panoramic bars of his own) before escaping the long arm of the law.

Review: Freddie Gibbs & The Alchemist’s ‘Alfredo’ Is A Premium Hip Hop Offering

The current rollercoaster of a year has been a good one for Gibbs’ career. Released in May, Alfredo instantly became Gibbs’ and The Alchemist’s highest-charting album to date, raking in 30,000 album-equivalent units to a No. 15 placement on the Billboard 200. He also signed a new solo deal with Warner Records ahead of his next release.
