Nas will join John Mayer, Dave Matthews Band and Phil Vassar during A Concert For Virginia Tech on September 6. The free show will be part of an ongoing initiative to help members of the Blacksburg, Va. community in the wake of April’s on-campus shootings which left over 30 people dead. Tickets will only be provided to students, faculty and staff members associated with the university. The concert takes place at Virginia Tech’s Lane Stadium with all proceeds from any memorabilia and corporate sponsorships going toward concert expenses.

Rotem protege Sean Kingston will replace Twista on the McDonald’s Live Tour.Twista said he was surprised that the fast food giant dropped him from their free concert series for what they considered to be “controversial lyrics.”Kingston’s“Beautiful Girls” has been on Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart for 10 weeks and it currently holds the number one spot.

Later this month veteran Memphis rapper Playa Fly will release “Prepare Or Beware: Da Mafia Massacre Mixtape” as a prequel to his forthcoming full-length LP Mafia All Day.
