Rumors of top producer Timbaland’s retirement may have to wait a little longer to be confirmed. When Timbaland told Gigwise he was ready to “throw in the towel” due to being bored with the state of the music industry, many news outlets falsely reported that he was done with music all together. But, after successful collaborations with Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado, M.I.A. and Bjork, it appears Timbaland has officially shifted his focus to Pop and may not retire.

On their official website, English Rock band Duran Duran stated that their long awaited Red Carpet Massacre album, which features Timbaland and his protege Nate “Danja” Hills will be released on October 30, 2007. Tracks have been leaked from the album since December of 2006, and both sides seem optimistic about the album during an interview with Billboard Magazine.

Danja was quoted as saying the band “sounds better than ever,” while keyboardist Nick Rhodes said the band was “really inspired.”

It also looks as if there is some truth to the rumor that Timbaland will contribute to Celine Dion’s upcoming R&B themed album. During a recent interview, rapper/singer M.I.A. passed on the highlights of a conversation she had while working with Timbaland on her latest album.

M.I.A. was quoted in the Village Voice as saying, “He told me, ‘I’m done being cool; I want to work with Celine Dion.'”
