HipHopDX Premiere

Def Squad vet Keith Murray has linked with Turquoise Jeep’s Flynt Flossy on a new Marc Lawrence-produced track called “Fine Wine.” To mark the occasion, the duo has surfaced with a video for the cut in which both artists express their admiration for diverse types of women over a heavy funk beat.

The track features Daru Jones (Jack White, Nas, Pete Rock, Slum Village) on drums, Jerry Johnson (Steel Pulse, Burning Spear) on saxophone and Lawrence (ATCQ’s Jarobi and Black Sheep’s Dres, Gift of Gab, Yellowman) on guitar and bass, with background vocals by fellow Turquoise Jeep member Pierre Cashmere.

It’s a longtime dream for Flynt to collaborate with Murray.

“I grew up in the Bronx listening to legends like Keith Murray, Redman and Erick Sermon of Def Squad,” he tells HipHopDX. “In fact, I can clearly remember being a kid in my bedroom, playing Def Squad hits on repeat as I danced in front of the mirror. And of course, Keith’s The Most Beautifullest Thing In This World is undeniable. It will forever be a Hip Hop classic.

“So when the opportunity came up to collaborate on a track, I was truly honored. I was like, ‘Oh hell yeah, that’ll be crazy!’ The stars aligned and we just ran with it full force. Keith would often tell me how much he respected my unique style, and I would tell him how I appreciated his impact on Hip Hop. The synergy was truly dope. It’s wild how things come full circle.”
