A$AP Rocky discussed a past phone call he had with Donald Trump during an interview with The Breakfast Club on Friday (January 17). While reflecting on his legal drama in Sweden, the A$AP Mob member confirmed he spoke with Trump and thanked his unlikely advocate for supporting his prison release last year.

“I spoke to [Trump] to thank ’em,” he said. “I was very thankful for what happened, for him supporting me. I don’t agree with all the political shit that he does at all, but like I said, I was just thankful for everybody who supported me in there. Just keeping it 100 with you.”

Host Charlamagne Tha God tried to probe for more details about the chat with Trump, asking if the president sought to bring Rocky to the White House. But the Harlem-bred rapper downplayed the call and reiterated how thankful he was.

“Regardless of all the political shit, man, I kept it cordial and very respectful because I was thankful,” he noted. “That was it.”

Rocky did admit he was worried about Trump’s support though. He recalled wondering if the president could hurt his case during his imprisonment in Sweden.

“So I’m really in Sweden and thinking about all this political shit, I was kind of thinking it was going to make my situation worse, but I still was thankful,” he stated. “I’m just keeping it 100.”

Rocky was locked up for a month on assault charges in Sweden last summer and was ultimately found guilty at trial. He avoided additional time behind bars at sentencing but was ordered to pay a fine.
