Flying Lotus and Denzel Curry have joined creative forces for the new “Black Balloons Reprise” video. Directed by Jack Begert, the striking black-and-white visual features giant black balloons popping up in various locations throughout Los Angeles, lending the video an eerie vibe.

“This is such a special project to me because it’s rare to work with an artist like Flying Lotus that truly has no creative boundaries,” Begert says in a press release. “The same goes for Denzel. The two of them build such distinctive worlds with their visuals — I had a great time blending them together.”

FlyLo tells HipHopDX, “Honestly, it’s the first video I kinda let go of control on. Every other video I’ve done I had been super involved with, so it was kinda fun to see what someone would do without my influence.”

There was one particular standout component that was FlyLo’s idea. At the end of the video, he lifts up his sweatshirt to reveal a Mac Miller t-shirt, his way of paying tribute to his late friend and collaborator.

“Black Balloons Reprise” comes from FlyLo’s Flamagraalbum, which arrived earlier this year. The new visual completes the final chapter of the “Black Balloons” trilogy, which includes the Curry’s own “Black Balloons” and “The Blackest Balloon.”
