HipHopDX Premiere

Stylz & Wells have resurfaced with a new single called “Vibes” featuring the one and only Too $hort, James Debarge and Scoe. The track comes from their upcoming yet-to-be-titled album, which is expected to arrive in January 2020.

While crafting track, Wells was schooled on a little slice of Hip Hip history.

“I was working with Too $hort on The Pimp Tape when I asked him to feature on my project,” Wells tells HipHopDX. “Surprisingly, he picked ‘Vibes,’ a more laid-back record we had just put James Debarge on” Wells commented to HipHopDx. “I asked him a few times if he was comfortable on this type of track.

“He surprisingly said the track reminded him of a legendary group that he always wanted to work with, but the label (Jive) always opposed the idea and prevented them from collaborating together. I asked him what group he was talking about and he told me A Tribe Called Quest. It’s an honor to get this rare perspective from the rap legend on record.”

Stylz — also known as Styliztik Jones — began his career battle rapping on Sway & Tech’s The Wake Up Show, while Wells, a multi-platinum Grammy-nominated producer, has produced for several notable artists, including Snoop Dogg, Rakim, Kurupt, Goodie Mob, Keyshia Cole, T.I. and $hort Dogg, among others.
